MANILA, Philippines – Sinimulan na ng provincial government ng Northern Samar ang paghahanda sa mga komunidad sa inaasahang offshore wind power project.
Ayon kay Jhon Allen Berbon, pinuno ng Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (PEDIPO), sisimulan ng pamahalaan ang community readiness at engagement activities.
Makikipagtulungan din ang mga awtoridad sa non-government organization Fisheries Reform (NFR).
Ani Berbon, inilarawan ng NFR ang hakbang nito sa pagpapataas ng kamalayan ng lokal na pamahalaan at coastal communities tungkol sa renewable energy development.
Kabilang dito ang pagpapakilala ng mga benepisyo at pangangailangan na protektahan ang coastal at marine resources.
“The organization underscored the need for communities to be well-informed and actively involved in renewable energy development without compromising environmental integrity.”
Nagpahayag naman ng commitment ang PEDIPO na suportahan ang inisyatiba ng NFR at isinalaysay ang key activities sa ilalim ng proposed collaboration.
Kabilang dito ang stakeholder surveys, community consultations at workshops, vulnerability assessments, at onsite rapid resource assessment at valuation analyses.
“The results of these activities will serve as the basis for policy recommendations to further strengthen the province’s renewable energy and coastal resource management framework,” sinabi ni Berbon.
Ang Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners ay magtatayo ng 650-megawatt offshore wind power project na nagkakahalaga ng ₱108 billion.
