MANILA, Philippines – Inilunsad ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ang upgraded verification portal na magbibigay-daan sa mga consumer na madaling alamin kung ang produktong ibinibenta sa merkado ay rehistrado, lisensyado at ligtas gamitin.
Inilunsad noong Enero 27, malalaman na ng publiko sa pamamagitan ng pinabuting portal ang registration status ng pagkain, gamot, cosmetics, at iba pang regulated products, maging ang mga establisyimento kung saan ibinibenta ang mga produktong ito.
Tampok sa system ang isang simplified search box na tumatanggap ng key words, product names, registration numbers, company name at maging voice search.
Sa panayam ng DZMM nitong Sabado, Enero 31, sinabi ni FDA spokesperson Khay Ann Magundayao-Borlado na ang portal ay accessible sa pamamagitan ng verification.fda.gov.ph o sa official site ng FDA kung saan makikita ng publiko kung ang produkto o establisyimento ay rehistrado o lisensyado ng ahensya.
“In this way, we will give the consumers more protection because we are confident that the products we use go through the right process and are safe for use,” ani Magundayao-Borlado.
Malugod na tinanggap naman ni Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa ang pagpapabuti ng verification system.
“Our advice, especially now in social media, is that there are a lot of unregistered products being sold. Those are not allowed and considered as contraband. Buying unregistered medicines and food can pose health risks,” sinabi ni Herbosa.
Ang paglulunsad ng portal ay kasunod ng babala ni FDA Director General Atty. Paolo Teston sa lumulobong bilang ng hindi rehistrado at pekeng gamot na ibinibenta online partikular na sa social media platforms.
Sakto rin ang paglulunsad sa nagpapatuloy na pagkwestyon mula sa mga mambabatas at pagbatikos ng mga senador sa FDA sa bigong pagpigil sa pagkalat ng mga peke at hindi rehistradong produkto sa pamilihan. RNT/JGC
