MANILA, Philippines – Nagpahayag ng suporta ang liderato ng Senado sa kautusan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na agarang bayaran ang mga contractor na gagawa nang maayos sa kanilang proyekto.
Para kay Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, ang mga matapat na contractor ay hindi dapat maisama sa mga tiwali at pasaway.
“I concur. We cannot lump the legitimate and honest contractors with the questionable ones. Records will show who’s who,” ani Sotto.
Samantala, sinabi naman ni Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, na ang kautusan ay makatutugon sa pagdadalawang-isip ng mga contractor na lumahok sa bidding ng mga proyekto ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
“Spot on. Amidst reluctance, even refusal of many contractors to participate in public biddings for the DPWH infrastructure projects, the President’s order to facilitate the payment of outstanding obligations to contractors who delivered on their contracted government projects will help prevent a looming infrastructure crisis brought about by the ongoing reforms in the DPWH in the proper utilization of the national budget,” ani Lacson.
