CALOOCAN City has changed a lot over the years. Today, it is the third most populated city in Metro Manila, after Quezon City and Manila.

With this fast growth come bigger challenges, especially in maintaining peace and order.

Caloocan City 1st District Representative Oscar “Oca” Malapitan understands this well. He has served Caloocan as councilor, vice mayor, three-term mayor, and now again as congressman.

His long experience led him, together with 3rd District Representative Dean Asistio, to author House Resolution No. 209, which calls for the creation of a Caloocan City Police District.

The reason for the proposal is simple: Caloocan has outgrown its current police structure.

The city now has more than 1.6 million residents across 193 barangays, including large and busy communities like Bagong Silang.

Relying on just one city police station is no longer enough to meet the city’s growing security needs.

A police district would allow for more police personnel, a stronger command system, improved investigation and intelligence work, and faster response to crime and emergencies.

Malapitan’s support for public safety goes beyond passing laws.

Over the years, he has consistently helped strengthen the city’s police force by supporting better facilities, equipment, and logistical needs.

Under his initiative, a new and much larger Caloocan police station is now being built. This facility is designed to eventually serve as the headquarters of the proposed police district.

The creation of a Caloocan Police District is about protecting the people and preparing the city for the future.

As Caloocan continues to grow, its institutions must grow with it. A stronger police force means safer streets, stronger communities, and better local governance for all Caloocan residents.
