MANILA, Philippines – Magsasagawa ng public consultation ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) sa susunod na linggo kaugnay sa planong taas-pasahe kasunod ng sunod-sunod na pagtaas sa presyo ng produktong petrolyo.
Ayon sa LTFRB nitong Miyerkules, Pebrero 18, ang sunod-sunod na oil price hike at maintenance cost ng mga sasakyan ang nagtulak para maghain ng kani-kanilang petisyon ang mga transport group sa pagtataas ng minimum fare.
“We will be holding two hearings next week to discuss all the issues surrounding the petitions for fare increase. And we will be holding weekly hearings in relation to the matter after that,” saad sa pahayag ni LTFRB chairperson Atty. Vigor Mendoza III.
Sinabi ng LTFRB na ang mga petisyon ay humihirit ng karagdagang P2 sa minimum fare, at magtutulak sa minimum fare sa traditional jeepneys mula P13 ay gagawing P15 at mula P15 ay magiging P17 sa modern jeepneys.
Idinagdag pa ng ahensya na nais ng mga transport group ang P1 provisional increase na iginawad noong 2023 ay gawing permanente.
Bukod dito, nais din ng mga petitioner ang karagdagang bayad sa bawat succeeding kilometer matapos ang four-kilometer na sinisingil ng minimum fare.
Dahil dito, sinabi ni Mendoza na ang mga puntong inihayag ng mga petitioner ay valid dahil na rin sa patuloy nilang pagsalo sa epekto ng tumataas na presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo.
“Drivers and operators are really at a disadvantage in the prevailing fare matrix. The arguments they raised in the petition are valid and really represent the realities on the ground for those in the transport sector,” ani Mendoza.
“We understand that any increase in fares affects the daily lives of commuters who rely on jeepneys for affordable transportation but we must also ensure that our drivers and operators can not only sustain safe and reliable services amid rising costs, but are also able to provide for the needs of their families,” dagdag pa.
Dahil dito ay iimbitahan umano ang mga eksperto sa pagdinig para pag-usapan ang epekto ng petisyon ng mga grupo sa ekonomiya.
Ito rin ay gagawin kasama ang concerned agencies tulad ng Department of Economy, Planning, and Development. RNT/JGC
