MANILA, Philippines – “We will not tolerate anyone. Everyone who should be held accountable should be held accountable.”
Ito ang sinabi ni National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Melvin Matibag at sinabing walang sasantuhin ang ahensya sa imbestigasyon sa iba’t ibang isyu katulad ng anomalya sa flood control projects.
Nitong Lunes, Pebrero 23 ay isinagawa ang turnover ceremony sa NBI kung saan pormal nang itinurn-over ni Atty. Angelito Magno ang liderato kay Matibag.
“I hope we don’t have that kind of line. Because we hold office based on the agency’s mandate and not because of the personalities who put you there,” sinabi ni Matibag nang iugnay siya sa pagiging miyembro ng administrasyon ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
“That’s what our president said, that we will not tolerate anyone. Everyone who should be held accountable should be held accountable,” ipinunto naman nito.
Sinabi rin ng bagong NBI director na tututukan niya ang imbestigasyon ng ahensya at hindi sa mga indibidwal na malapit sa kanya.
“Wherever I am brought with evidence, that is where we will take it,” ayon pa kay Matibag nang tanungin kung masisiguro ba nito na kakastiguhin ang sinumang may kaugnayan sa krimen at iregularidad kahit pa kabilang dito ang ilang ka-alyado ni Duterte.
“If there are friends and party members and allies involved, we must hold them accountable,” sinabi pa niya.
“They know that. Many friendships end when the call to serve in the country is there. They know me. They know that.”
