MANILA, Philippines – Inilagay na ng Philippine National Police (PNP) sa heightened alert ang lahat ng unit nito sa posibleng mga pagtitipon at kilos-protesta na may kaugnayan sa pagsisimula ng hearing ng International Criminal Court (ICC) laban kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Sinabi ni PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. na mahigpit na minomonitor ng PNP ang mga pangyayari upang siguruhin ang kaayusan ng publiko.
“Our security measures are in place and it is intended to ensure the peaceful conduct of any activity in public places. Regardless of the affiliation of the groups, our personnel will be there to protect their rights and maintain peace and order,” saad sa pahayag ni Nartatez.
“Maximum tolerance will be strictly observed, but the law will be upheld. Our personnel are instructed to remain professional and avoid any confrontation,” dagdag pa niya.
“Huwag po sana tayong magpadala sa emosyon na maaaring maging dahilan ng sakitan at paglabag sa batas. Let us not bring the conflict to our streets. Ang PNP ay walang kinikilingan, tayo ay para sa kapayapaan at seguridad ng bawat Pilipino.”
Ngayong Lunes, Pebrero 23 ay sisimulan na ang pre-trial confirmation of charges hearing sa ICC kaugnay ng umano’y crimes against humanity na may kaugnayan sa anti-drug campaign ng administrasyong Duterte.
Tutukuyin sa apat na araw na pagdinig kung may sapat na ebidensya sa kaso para tumuloy sa paglilitis. RNT/JGC
