MANILA, Philippines – Pinalakas ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang seguridad sa Tawi-Tawi matapos maiulat na ilang personalidad ang umano’y gumagamit ng “backdoor exits” para makalabas ng bansa nang hindi nahuhuli.
Ayon kay PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., inutusan niya ang provincial police na palakasin ang presensya sa mga lugar na ginagamit umano bilang ruta ng pagtakas.
“This is a strategic measure to secure our borders and deny fugitives and all law offenders the opportunity to escape justice and accountability,” ani Nartatez.
Inilahad na nakilala na ng mga awtoridad ang mga key locations sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa ibang ahensya at magde-deploy ng dagdag na tauhan at resources.
Ayon sa Bureau of Immigration (BI), hamon ang pagbabantay sa Tawi-Tawi dahil ito ay southernmost province at may maritime border sa Malaysia. Ilan sa umano’y nakagamit ng backdoor exits ay sina dating Mayor Alice Guo, dating Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr., at maaaring businessman Charlie Atong Ang.
Sinigurado ni Nartatez na patuloy ang koordinasyon ng PNP, BI, at Armed Forces of the Philippines upang mahigpitan ang border at pigilan ang pagtakas ng mga suspek.
“We will continue working with other law enforcement offices, particularly the Bureau of Immigration and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, to prevent the escape of individuals using these backdoor exits,” dagdag niya. RNT/MND
