MANILA, Philippines – Nag-utos si Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., hepe ng Philippine National Police, ng review at assessment sa paggamit ng police mobility assets bilang bahagi ng fuel conservation measures, kasunod ng patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng petrolyo dulot ng tensyon sa Middle East.
Tumaas ng mahigit P1 kada litro ang gasolina at diesel ngayong linggo, at nagbabala ang mga eksperto na maaari pa itong sumirit dahil sa hindi tiyak na sitwasyon sa seguridad sa rehiyon.
Ayon kay Nartatez, bagama’t manageable pa ang epekto ng sunod-sunod na oil price hikes, mas mabuting maghanda sa anumang posibleng mangyari.
“We need to prepare and plan for this scenario without sacrificing our mandate to be more visible, more responsive and more reliable in terms of ensuring the safety of the people in every street and in every community,” ayon kay Nartatez.
Dagdag niya, prayoridad ang peace and order upang mapanatili ang 25 percent decline sa focus crimes sa unang dalawang buwan ng taon.
Binigyang-diin din niya ang papel ng Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) sa pagma-maximize ng deployment ng tauhan at resources habang tinutupad ang law enforcement objectives. Ang EMPO ay nakatuon sa data-driven at mabilis at eksaktong police response, at iniugnay dito ang pagbaba ng crime volume at tagumpay ng mga operasyon.
Inatasan ang mga hepe ng pulisya at support unit heads na magsagawa ng review sa ilalim ng gabay ng Directorate for Operations at iba pang tanggapan sa National at Regional Headquarters.
“This is part of our operational readiness in response to the President’s order. But we assure the public that we remain focused on our mandate of maintaining peace and order and implementing crime prevention measures,” ani Nartatez.
Sa hiwalay na pahayag, sinabi ng PNP na matagal na nitong ipinatutupad ang maingat na paggamit ng enerhiya sa lahat ng yunit bilang bahagi ng responsableng pamamahala ng resources.
“In light of current developments, these existing measures will be further sustained and optimized to contribute to broader national efforts aimed at maintaining economic stability,” saad ng PNP.
Patuloy umanong ipatutupad ng mga police office sa buong bansa ang energy-saving practices tulad ng rationalized deployment ng personnel at sasakyan, pagbawas ng non-essential travel, vehicle pooling kung maaari, at mas maayos na operational planning—nang hindi isinasakripisyo ang public safety.
