MANILA, Philippines — Tiniyak ni House Committee on Justice Chair at Batangas Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro na walang magiging delay o shortcut sa pagtalakay ng impeachment complaints laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Sa panayam sa radyo, sinabi ni Luistro na balak niyang ipagpatuloy ang pagdinig kahit magsimula ang congressional recess sa Marso 18.
“Magre-recess kami ng March 18, but I intend to continue the proceedings of the Justice Committee,” ani Luistro.
“In my perspective as Justice Chair, I do not want to cause any delay to this proceeding. And that is why I am inclined to continue the hearing even during recess.”
Dagdag pa niya, ayaw niyang maantala ang proseso at nais niyang maiwasan ang hindi kinakailangang pagkaantala sa constitutional proceedings.
Gayunman, iginiit niyang hindi isasakripisyo ang due process at substansya ng kaso kapalit ng mabilis na pag-usad.
“If there is an opportunity to avoid delays, then we should do so – but never at the expense of the substance of the case and the due process of the proceedings,” aniya.
Nauna nang idineklara ng komite na sufficient in substance ang dalawang natitirang impeachment complaints laban sa bise presidente, kaya umusad ito sa susunod na yugto ng proseso.
Naglabas na rin ang komite ng “Notice to Respondent” na may petsang Marso 4 na nag-uutos kay Duterte na magsumite ng verified answer sa loob ng hindi mapapalawig na 10 araw mula sa pagtanggap ng abiso. RNT/JGC
