MANILA, Philippines – SINABI ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na suportado nito ang pagsisikap na palakasin ang pananggalang na magpo-protekta sa national security ng bansa mula sa sinasabing foreign-directed espionage.
Sa isang kalatas, sinabi ni AFP spokesperson Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla na ang military “supports ongoing efforts to strengthen safeguards that protect our national security, including the continuing improvement of legal and institutional frameworks to address evolving threats.”
Gayunman, sinabi ni Padilla na hindi naman maibabahagi ng military ang kanilang operational details dahil sa national security reasons.
Ani Padilla, patuloy na pinananatili ng Pilipinas ang ‘constructive diplomatic engagement’ nito sa lahat ng bansa sa gitna ng napaulat na espionage network na nago-operate sa loob ng bansa.
Ang pahayag na ito ng AFP ay matapos na kumpirmahin ng National Security Council (NSC) ang report na nadiskubre at inaresto ng mga awtoridad ang mga pinoy na di umano’y sangkot sa Chinese-linked espionage at foreign-directed malign activities.
“This development highlights how modern espionage increasingly utilizes cyber and technological methods, making vigilance and inter-agency cooperation more important than ever,” ang winika ni Padilla.
