MANILA, Philippines – Tiniyak ng Department of Agriculture at Food Terminal Inc. na may sapat na suplay ng bigas sa programang “Benteng Bigas, Meron Na!” na nagbebenta ng bigas sa halagang ₱20 kada kilo.
Ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., patuloy ang paggiling ng palay ng National Food Authority upang mapunan ang mga stock na ibinebenta sa mga KADIWA Program centers at iba pang distribution sites ng mga lokal na pamahalaan.
“We understand that the conflict in the Middle East is stoking anxiety among many Filipinos, especially those in vulnerable sectors,” ani Tiu Laurel.
“But acting out of panic will only worsen the situation. We have enough rice buffer and a good harvest,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi rin ng DA at FTI na maaaring magmukhang kulang ang suplay dahil sa dami ng tao sa distribution sites.
Ayon kay FTI president Joseph Lo, hindi kailangang mag-panic buying ang mga benepisyaryo.
“Beneficiaries do not need to panic or rush. Rice will be available as long as they are registered in the Benteng Bigas Registry System. Registered individuals are guaranteed eligibility to purchase rice.”
Upang maiwasan ang hoarding at masigurong pantay ang distribusyon, hanggang 10 kilo lamang ng bigas ang maaaring bilhin kada araw ng bawat benepisyaryo.
Prayoridad sa programa ang mga senior citizen, persons with disabilities, low-income families, solo parents, at mga manggagawa sa sektor ng agrikultura at transportasyon.
“We encourage responsible purchasing. Buy only what your family needs for daily consumption so others can also benefit. Our goal is to make distribution safer, more orderly, and equitable for everyone,” ani Lo. RNT/MND
