MANILA, Philippines – Posibleng makauwi na sa Manila ang puganteng si Zaldy Co sa loob ng isa hanggang tatlong linggo, ayon kay Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
Si Co ay ikinokonsiderang isa sa mga mastermind sa likod ng maanomalyang flood control projects.
Sa panayam, sinabi ni Remulla na nakikipag-ugnayan na ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa mga awtoridad sa Czech Republic para sa deportation ni Co.
“Maybe in as little as one week, but it could take as long as three weeks. That depends on the DFA—they’re really the lead on this, not me; I’m just coordinating,” ani Remulla sa panayam ng DZMM.
Sa kabila nito ay mayroon umanong “minor complication” sa pag-aresto kay Co.
“Because his deportation order is based on a canceled passport—he didn’t have his Portuguese passport with him. He wasn’t carrying anything… it’s like he became complacent. So when he was arrested there, it was noted that he had no travel documents. The DFA informed them that he was a wanted person,” paliwanag niya.
Sa pagdating, sasailalim si Co sa complete physical examination sa Camp Crame upang matukoy kung siya ay fit to trial.
Pagkatapos ay dadalhin siya sa Sandiganbayan para sumailalim sa arraignment at haharapin ang ruling kung ang kaso ay bailable.
Matatandaan na nitong Huwebes ng gabi ay inanunsyo ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang pagkakaaresto kay Co sa Czech Republic.
“He is now detained in Prague after crossing into the Czech Republic without proper documentation and is currently in the custody of Czech authorities,” anunsyo ni Marcos sa Facebook post. RNT/JGC
