AS Malabon City marks its 25th Cityhood Anniversary, Mayor Jeannie Sandoval has called on ‘Malabueños’ to embody the spirit of ‘bayanihan’ (community cooperation) in the wake of the ongoing energy emergency affecting various localities nationwide.
While challenges such as rising fuel costs and power concerns continue to impact daily life, she told Good Riddance that Malabon’s strength lies in the collective action and cooperation of its people.
“Sa gitna ng krisis sa enerhiya, higit nating kailangan ang pagtutulungan. Ang diwa ng bayanihan ang magsisilbing lakas natin upang malampasan ang anumang pagsubok,” Sandoval said.
Amid the economic challenges, she has rolled out several programs under the ‘Walang Tulugan Serbisyo’ caravan.
Among the programs were the release of the second tranche of the Malabon Ahon Blue Card financial assistance, benefiting over 93,000 households; the mega job fair providing employment opportunities; and the month-long Malabon Pasalubong Trade Fair, which promotes products of small businesses to boost the local economy.
These initiatives are aligned with the mayor’s Lucky 9-Point Agenda, which focuses on sustaining economic growth and improving the quality of life of every Malabueño.
It can be recalled that Malabon became a highly-urbanized city through Republic Act 9019, authored by First Gentleman and ex-congressman Ricky Sandoval during his term as the city’s representative.
The measure elevated Malabon’s status and enabled increased funding for key development initiatives, including the construction of Super Health Centers, schools, infrastructure projects, street lighting, and road improvements.
Sandoval also underscored the importance of resilience and solidarity as Malabon celebrates this milestone year, reminding residents that the city’s progress over the past 25 years was built on shared efforts and perseverance.
