MANILA, Philippines – Sinimulan na ng Philippine National Police (PNP) nitong Lunes ang imbestigasyon sa pagtagas ng sensitibong personal data ng mga imbestigador ng Office of the Ombudsman.
Ayon kay PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., batid ng pulisya ang bigat ng insidente dahil may kinalaman ito sa seguridad ng mga apektadong indibidwal.
“As an agency that is also involved in investigation and intelligence-gathering, we understand how serious this case is since this involves the safety of the concerned individuals,” ani Nartatez.
“We will look into this case with urgency and with a commitment to run after all those involved,” dagdag niya.
Saklaw ng imbestigasyon ang posibleng external at internal actors sa loob ng Ombudsman.
Ayon sa PNP, maaaring maharap sa kasong paglabag sa Data Privacy Act at Anti-Cybercrime Prevention Act ang mga nasa likod ng pagtagas ng impormasyon.
“I assure that appropriate charges will be filed against individuals behind this leak of information. The PNP also assures all government officials and employees that the police force is ready to protect them against all kinds of threats to their security,” ani Nartatez.
Noong Linggo, kinondena ng Office of the Ombudsman ang online disclosure ng pagkakakilanlan ng kanilang mga imbestigador at sinabing layunin nitong takutin ang mga lingkod-bayan at ilagay sa panganib ang kanilang kaligtasan.
“The Office of the Ombudsman strongly condemns the malicious online disclosure of our investigators’ identities. This unauthorized leak is a blatant attempt to intimidate public servants and directly jeopardizes their personal safety,” pahayag ng Ombudsman.
Dagdag pa nito, nakikipag-ugnayan na sila sa National Bureau of Investigation at sa PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group upang matukoy ang mga responsable sa leak. Santi Celario
