IN the continuing effort to secure communities and reduce violence, Police Regional Office 3 has demonstrated that firm enforcement and public cooperation can deliver tangible results.

From February 24 to April 26, 2026, PRO3 successfully accounted for 636 firearms in its intensified anti-loose firearms campaign — an accomplishment that underscores its commitment to public safety across Central Luzon.

The numbers present a clear picture of sustained enforcement.

A total of 239 short firearms and one light weapon were confiscated during police operations, while 299 short firearms and 13 light weapons were voluntarily surrendered by civilians.

In addition, 84 firearms were deposited for safekeeping, reflecting growing public trust in authorities.

These efforts also led to the arrest of 221 individuals for violations of firearms laws, reinforcing the message that illegal possession will not be tolerated.

PRO3 has maintained a proactive and uncompromising stance in addressing the threat posed by loose firearms.

The statement of PRO3 Director PBGen. Jess Mendez, “Every firearm accounted for is a threat prevented,” captures the essence of the campaign.

Each seized or surrendered weapon represents a potential act of violence stopped before it could occur.

This initiative aligns with the broader agenda of Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio ‘Tateng’ Nartatez Jr., which prioritizes enhanced police operations, public safety and stronger community engagement.

Through intelligence-driven operations and active cooperation with the public, PRO3 continues to strengthen its campaign against illegal firearms.

Every firearm removed from circulation is a step toward safer streets, stronger communities and a more secure Central Luzon where peace is actively protected, not simply hoped for.
