MANILA, Philippines – Halos 900 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) sa Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) sa Occidental Mindoro ang pinaghihinalaang may tuberculosis, ayon sa Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
Batay sa BuCor, natukoy ang mga kaso sa isinagawang Active Case Finding (ACF) mula Abril 27 hanggang Mayo 1 sa SPPF.
“A total of 892 PDL revealed results of CXR (chest x-ray) suggestive of Pulmonary TB (PTB), which will be subsequently referred for further diagnostic testing,” ayon sa ahensya.
Umabot sa 2,393 PDLs at 40 personnel ng kulungan ang sumailalim sa chest X-ray screening.
Isinagawa ang ACF sa SPPF Hospital katuwang ang Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), at Provincial Health Office (PHO) ng Occidental Mindoro.
“The initiative was made possible in support of the intensified campaign of the government against Tuberculosis (TB),” ayon sa BuCor.
“Particularly, this initiative aimed to detect early TB cases of PDL and ensure its timely management and treatment,” dagdag pa nito.
Tiniyak naman ng BuCor ang pagpapatuloy ng kanilang pagbibigay ng serbisyong pangkalusugan sa mga PDL, kabilang ang mga hakbang para sa pag-iwas at pagkontrol sa TB. Mary Anne Sapico
