MANILA, Philippines – Nakumbinsi ng mga militar sa
Maguindanao del Norte ang mga sibilyan na isuko ang kanilang mga hindi lisensyadong armas para suportahan ang disarmament program ng pamahalaan.
Nitong Huwebes, Mayo 14, nasa kabuuang 48 assorted high-powered firearms, kabilang ang sniper rifles at short firearms, ang ipinresenta ni Lt. Col. Aeron Gumabao, commander ng 57th Infantry Battalion, kay Brig. Gen. Michael Santos, commander ng 603rd Infantry Brigade, sa isang surrender program sa municipal gymnasium sa Barangay Romongaob, Cotabato City.
Ani Gumabao, ang aktibidad ay isinagawa bilang bahagi ng implementasyon ng Small Arms and Light Weapons Management Program (SALW-MP) ng Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) sa ilalim ng Philippine National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (PNAP-WPS).
“It is reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive peacebuilding, human security, and community empowerment,” sinabi ni Gumabao.
Dumalo sa aktibidad sina Presidential Peace Assistant David B. Diciano, pinuno ng OPAPRU Bangsamoro Transformation Cluster; South Upi Mayor Helen A. Padua; Maguindanao del Sur police director Col. Michael John Mangahis; at Dr. Aliuddin Haron, pinuno ng secretariat ng Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Joint Normalization Committee.
Inilarawan ni Santos ang pagsusuko ng mga armas na isang makapangyarihang simbolo ng pagbabago at pag-asa.
“Today is not just about 48 firearms laid down — it is about 48 opportunities for peace. Each surrendered weapon represents a life redirected, a family made safer, and a community moving forward. This is proof that when government agencies, local leaders, and our people stand united, peace becomes possible and sustainable,” ani Santos.
Ang mga isinukong hindi lisensyadong armas ay iiimbak sa headquarters ng 57th IB para sa angkop na kustodiya at safekeeping, na naaayon sa mga protocol. RNT/JGC
