MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng Armed Forces of the Philippines na lalo pang pinatatag ng malawak na suporta ng mga Pilipino sa pagtatanggol sa teritoryo ng bansa, kabilang ang West Philippine Sea (WPS), ang kanilang mandato sa pagbabantay sa soberanya ng Pilipinas.
Ayon kay AFP spokesperson for WPS Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad, ipinakita sa pinakahuling “Tugon ng Masa” survey ng OCTA Research na 76 porsyento ng adult Filipinos ang handang ipagtanggol ang mga teritoryo ng bansa kabilang ang WPS.
“The AFP welcomes the latest OCTA Research Survey results, which reveal that 76 percent of Filipinos stand firmly behind the government’s commitment to defend our national territory, particularly the WPS,” ani Trinidad.
Isinagawa ang survey mula Marso 19 hanggang 25 sa 1,200 adult Filipinos. Lumabas din sa survey na 17 porsyento ang undecided habang pitong porsyento naman ang mariing tumututol. Mayroon itong margin of error na plus or minus tatlong porsyento.
“This overwhelming manifestation of support with only seven percent disagreement strengthens our resolve to keep performing our mandate. It also underscores that the defense of our sovereignty, sovereign rights and maritime entitlements is a collective duty anchored on national unity,” dagdag niya.
Iginiit ng AFP na nananatili itong nakatuon sa pagprotekta sa exclusive economic zone ng bansa at sa kapakanan ng mga mangingisdang Pilipino alinsunod sa Constitutional mandate at Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept.
“This strong public trust fortifies our determination to resist coercive and illegal actions in our waters. We assure the Filipino people we will continue to perform our operations with professionalism, transparency and adherence to international law,” ani Trinidad. Dave Baluyot
