MANILA, Philippines – Inihayag ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group nitong Miyerkules, Mayo 27, na may security escort at back-up car sina Senator Ronald dela Rosa at Robin Padilla nang umalis sila sa Senado ilang oras matapos ang insidente ng pamamaril noong Mayo 13.
Dahil dito, sinabi ni CIDG director Robert AA Morico II na magsasampa sila ng kasong paglabag sa Presidential Decree No. 1829 o Obstruction of Justice laban kay Padilla at iba pang tumulong umano sa pagtakas ni dela Rosa.
Nasa Senate protective custody si dela Rosa matapos siyang makilahok sa pagpapalit ng liderato sa Senado noong Mayo 11.
Huling nakita si dela Rosa na umaalis sa Senado bandang alas-2:30 hanggang alas-3 ng madaling araw noong Mayo 14. Inamin naman ni Padilla na isinakay niya si dela Rosa sa kanyang sasakyan at iniwan ito sa Makati.
Pero ayon sa CIDG, hindi simpleng “hitch ride” lamang ang nangyari.
“Following a thorough investigation, the CIDG has officially concluded that the transport of Senator Dela Rosa was not a mere hitch ride on Senator Padilla’s car, but a highly coordinated, pre-planned logistical maneuver specifically executed to avoid detection while escaping the Senate premises in the dawn of May 14, 2026,” ayon sa CIDG statement.
Dagdag pa ng CIDG, may isa pang sasakyang sumusunod sa kotse ni Padilla na nagsilbing security escort at backup car.
Si dela Rosa ay may arrest warrant mula sa International Criminal Court dahil sa kasong crimes against humanity kaugnay ng madugong war on drugs na ikinasawi ng mahigit 6,000 katao sa police operations.
Nauna nang sinabi ng Department of Justice na valid at maaaring ipatupad ang ICC warrant kaya maaaring managot ang sinumang hahadlang sa pag-aresto.
“When individuals actively interfere in the arrest or assist in the evasion of criminal offenders to avoid prosecution, it undermines the justice system and compromises public order,” ani Morico.
Sinabi rin ni acting DOJ Secretary Fredderick Vida na nagsasagawa na rin ng sariling imbestigasyon ang DOJ para sa katotohanan at pananagutan.
Babala pa ni Vida, maaaring maharap sa perpetual disqualification from holding office ang sinumang public official o government employee na mapatutunayang lumabag sa batas. RNT/MND
