MANILA, Philippines – Nagtakda ang Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) ng 2026 installed capacity at market share caps para i-promote ang fair competition sa generation companies.
Ngayong taon, sinabi ng ERC na ang maximum installed generating capacity ng national grid ay 28,197,045 kilowatt (kW).
Ang ERC ay may limitadong installed generating capacity para sa Luzon na 20,422,906 kW; Visayas sa 3,478,324 kW; at 4,295,915 kW para sa Mindanao.
Nilimitahan ang market share ng power firms sa 7,049,261 kW sa buong bansa, kabilang ang 6,126,842 kW sa Luzon, 1,043,497 kW sa Visayas at 1,288,775 kW sa Mindanao
Sa ilalim ng batas, ang generation firms ay maaaring magkaroon ng hanggang 30 percent ng installed capacity ng grid, at 25 percent ng national grid.
“Healthy competition in the power sector is essential to ensuring reliable electricity supply and protecting consumers from unreasonable prices…,” saad sa pahayag ni ERC chair Francis Saturnino Juan.
“The Philippine energy sector continues to expand and modernize. This Resolution allows the ERC to more accurately reflect the actual operating capacities of power plants nationwide, while ensuring that competition remains fair, transparent, and beneficial to consumers,” dagdag pa niya. RNT/JGC
