MANILA, Philippines – Hindi maantala at tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang operasyon ng Senado sa gitna ng may seryosong pagbabanta sa seguridad ng gusali kasama ang mambabatas at empleyado ng Mataas na Kapulunga base sa intelligence reports ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Senate President Pro Tempore at Acting Senate chief Sherwin Gatchalian na hindi maantala ng banta sa seguridad ang operasyon ng Senado tulad anumang aktibidad sa lehislasyon, operasyong administratibo at paghahanda sa impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Nilinaw din ni Gatchalian sa isang press conference na hindi naka-lock down ang Senado pero mataas ang seguridad sanhi ng banta sa gusali.
Pinaalis ang lahat ng sasakyan na nakaparada sa paligid sa gusali ng Senado kabilang ang nagsasagawa ng kilos-protesta na mayroon ilang nagkakampo sa paligid.
“The Senate is taking the threat seriously and has directed the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms to coordinate with the National Bureau of Investigation and other intelligence agencies to validate the reports,” aniya.
Sinabi ni Gatchalian na pinakamataas na prayoridad ng Senado ang kaligtasan ng empleyado, miyembro ng media at mga senador habang ipinagpapatuloy ang imbestigasyon.
“We have to take it seriously because my top priority is the safety of the employees, members of the media, and the senators, so we have to take precautionary measures to ensure their safety and security,” ani Gatchalian.
Sinabi pa ng lider ng Senado na mayroong indibiduwal at personalidad na natutukoy ng NBI na pasimuno ang destabilisasyon sa bansa ngunit hindi binanggit nag kanilang pangalan habang iniimbestigahan ang kaniilang partiisipasyon.
“The NBI mentioned some personalities, but I will not disclose them yet because we’re still investigating and validating the information. We’re also cross-referencing it with other intelligence agencies,” aniya.
Kamakailan, nagpalabas si GAtchain ng isang memoranmdum na pinapayagan ang work-fron-home arrangement sa lahat ng empleyado ng Senado mula Hunyo 10 hanggang 11 bilang precautionary measures upang matiyak na magpatuloy ang operasyon ng Senado.
“Under the directive, heads of offices were instructed to ensure continuity of operations through appropriate remote work arrangements, while also being allowed to require on-site attendance of personnel when necessary for security, safety, maintenance, and other essential functions,” ayon kay Gatchalian.
Umapela din si Gatchalian sa kapwa senador na magtrabaho sa kanilang tahan habang isinasagawa ang security assessment.
