MANILA, Philippines – Hindi dapat pangambahan ng publiko kung hindi man maisasapubliko ang pre-trial conference sa impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte dahil gagawan umano ito ng paraan ng prosekusyon na banggitin sa media pagkatapos.
Sa isang press conference, binigyang diin nina Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro (Lead Prosecutor), San Juan Rep. Ysabel Maria Zamora (Prosecutor) at Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong (spokesperson ng Prosecution Team) na nang tanggapin nila ang pre-trial order ay nakapaloob doon na hindi bukas sa media coverage ang nabanggit na pre-trial conference kung saan ihahain ng prosekusyon ang mga ebidensya at sasagutin naman ito ng depensa.
“Do not fear of connivance. Wala pong connivance dito. Hindi po mangyayari iyan. There will be no connivance there because the defense team will also be there. The house prosecution team would be ready to inform the public what transpired during the pre-trial conference assuming that there is no direct order from the impeachment court not to divulge the information or transpired” ayon kay Adiong.
Dagdag naman ni Luistro na, “hindi po kami takot. In fact that directive came from the impeachment court, it did not came from us. Nabasa na lang po namin iyan sa notice for pre-trial conference for the deadline of pre-trial brief.”
Maging sa panig ni Luistro ay binigyang diin niya na sa pagsasagawa aniya ng impeachment trial maging ang mga panuntunan dito ay ang impeachment court ang masusunod at nagbababa ng anumang mga pamamaraan.
“We are not against making the pre trial conference open to the public. As a matter of fact we are in support that. However please understand tha in matters the conduct of trial, the authority belongs to the impeachment court. Our obligation is to obey the impeachment court,” ani Luistro.
Sinabi pa ni Luistro na anuman ang mamarkahang ebidensya o dukumento sa pre-trial conference ay lahat ima-manifest sa panahon ng impeachment trial proper batay na rin sa pre-trial order ng impeachment court.
“You will not be missing anything dahil lahat ng mangyayari sa trial conference ay ima-manifest ng dalawang parties and even ng impeachment court pagdating ng trial proper prior to the issuance of pre-trial order.”
Samantala, kinumpirma rin ni Luistro na kabilang sa tatalakayin sa pre-trial conference ay ang mga petsa ng impeachment trials at naniniwala ang mambabatas na tatagal ang pagdinig ng hanggang tatlong buwan kung ito ay magtutuloy-tuloy lamang. (Meliza Maluntag)
