MANILA, Philippines – Humihirit si Quezon City 5th District Councilor Alfred Vargas sa Department of Education Schools Division Office ng Quezon City na lagyan ng mga CCTV ang lahat ng public schools sa lungsod.
Kasunod na rin ito ng nangyaring pamamaril ng dalawang estudyante sa San Jose National High School sa Tacloban City kung saan tatlong estudyante ang nasawi at nasugatan ang 11 isa pa.
“As a first step, I will seek funding from the DepEd Schools Division Office of Quezon City for the installation of CCTV cameras in all public schools in our LGU. I also intend to push for other legislative measures to ensure the safety of our children inside and outside their schools at all times,” pahayag ni Vargas.
Mahalaga ayon kay Vargas na matiyak ang kaligtasan ng mga estudyante.
“We need to take proactive steps to ensure that our children are safe and protected against bullying, harassment, and violence. This should be part of a comprehensive plan to be drafted and implemented by the city government, the Department of Education, the Philippine National Police, DSWD, parents, teachers and other concerned sectors. I would like to propose the holding of such a coordination meeting at the soonest time possible,” pahayag ni Vargas.
Bilang isang magulang, sinabi ni Vargas na nakababahala ang ganitong insidente.
Responsibilidad aniya ng mga magulang na itaguyod ang kaligtasan at kapakanan ng mga anak. Kasama na rito ang pagtuturo sa kanila ng pag-respeto sa dignidad ng kapwa.
Ayon kay Vargas, hindi maikakaila na may mga magulang na pabaya o kunsintidor.
“Hindi dapat sila palampasin. Kung tutuusin, mas malaki ang kanilang pananagutan kaya dapat na mas mabigat ang kanilang kaparusahan. Dapat silang managot sa batas,” pahayag ni Vargas. (Santi Celario)
