MANILA, Philippines – Naghain ng mga komento ang defense team ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa pretrial order ng Senate impeachment court bago ang deadline sa Huwebes.
Ayon kay Senate Secretary at Impeachment Clerk of Court Renato Bantug Jr., dahil dito ay hindi nakikita ang anumang pagkaantala sa pagsisimula ng impeachment trial sa Hulyo 6.
“We are prohibited by the Rules on Impeachment from discussing such matters in public,” sinabi naman ni defense lawyer Michael Poa nitong Biyernes, Hulyo 3, patungkol sa nilalaman ng komento.
Ayon kay Bantug, sa kanyang initial review ay wala itong nakitang anumang magpapahinto o pipigil sa pagsisimula ng impeachment trial.
“At first glance, I don’t see anything that would prevent the start of the trial on Monday,” sinabi ni Bantug sa panayam ng DZMM.
Aniya, bubusisiin pa nito ang ipinasa ng depensa at agad na tutukuyin kung ang anumang komento ay mangangailangan ng mga correction sa pretrial order.
Nang tanungin kung ang depensa ay hihirit pa ng postponement, sinabi ni Bantug na wala pang ganitong request.
“As of now, there is nothing of that sort, and I don’t want to preempt them. But as we speak, we will proceed with the trial on Monday,” aniya.
Kinumpirma ni Bantug na ang depensa lamang ang nagpasa ng komento sa pretrial order na inisyu noong Lunes. RNT/JGC
