MANILA, Philippines – Handang-handa na ang prosekusyon na magpresenta ng ebidensya sinuman ang maging presiding officer sa impeachment court.
Ito ang binigyang diin ni Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, spokesperson ng prosekusyon sa pagsasabing, “tulad po ng paulit-ulit naming binibigyang diin – ang House Prosecution Team ay handang-handa na magpresenta ng aming mga ebidensya at testigo, kahit sino pa po ang maging presiding officer.”
Sinabi ito ni Adiong matapos maging isyu at magbothan ang impeachment court ukol sa pag-upo ni Senador Chiz Escudero bilang presiding officer matapos ang nominasyon sa kaniya ni Senador Panfilo Lacson.
“Malakas at matibay po ang aming kaso. Buong respeto po naming igagalang ang desisyon ng ating mga kagalang-galang na Senator-Judges at ng buong Impeachment Court,” ani Alonto.
Samantala, umaasa naman si Davao Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte na magiging patas ang impeachent trial laban sa kaniyang kapatid na si Vice President Sara Duterte.
“Like many Filipinos, I hope the proceedings will be conducted fairly, professionally and without unnecessary distractions. More importantly, I hope this process finally allows the truth to emerge from the mountain of accusations, specualtion, political narratives, and noise that have sorrounded this issue for months.”
Giit pa ni Pulong na nauna ng sinabi ni VP Sara na handa siyang harapin ang mga akusasyon laban sa kaniya.
“We are confident that she will be given the opportunity to answer every allegation in the proper forum and under the proper process.”
Panawagan pa ng kongresista na payagang magawa ng mga senator-judges ang kanilang tungkulin at gawin aniya ang prosesong ito ng bukas ang isipan.
“We remain hopeful that this trial will not only settle the issues being raised but also expose the motivations behind them. Let the evidence speak. Let the facts prevail. Let the truth come out,” banggit pa ni Rep. Duterte. Meliza Maluntag
