MANILA, Philippines – Walang plano si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., na suspendihin ang ₱85 daily minimum wage increase para sa mga manggagawa sa National Capital Region (NCR).
Sinabi ni Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro na walang paghihinto sa P85 umento sa sahod sa NCR.
“Hindi po. Wala pong suspension, wala pong paghihinto po dito. Tuluy-tuloy po ito,” ayon kay Castro.
“Wala pong naipaabot sa atin kung may nag-request mula sa private sector pero wala pong utos na ito po ay suspended,” aniya pa rin.
Nauna rito, nanawagan ang Foundation for Economic Freedom(FEF) sa pamahalaan na isuspinde at suriin muna ang ₱85daily minimum wage hike sa Metro Manila (Wage Order 27) dahil sa posibleng masamang epekto nito sa ekonomiya.
“While intended to support workers, an abrupt daily wage increase of this magnitude will trigger severe unintended consequences that disproportionately harm the country’s most vulnerable populations,” ayon sa FEF.
“The resulting rise in the cost of living would erode the purchasing power of poor households and offset the wage gains of employed Filipinos,” ang sinabi pa rin ng FEF.
Nagbabala rin ito na maaaring mabawasan ang pagha-hire o magbawas ng operating hours ang mga negosyante, dahilan para maging mahirap para sa unemployed workers na humanap ng trabaho. (KRIS JOSE)
