MANILA, Philippines – Makikipagtulungan ang Philippine National Police (PNP) sa Department of Education (DepEd) at mga lokal na pamahalaan (LGUs) upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan ng mga paaralan sa mga geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA).
“Access to education must be matched by access to safety,” ayon kay PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
“The PNP will continue working with DepEd, LGUs, and community stakeholders to protect schools, secure education personnel, and promptly address security concerns in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas,” dagdag niya.
Ang hakbang ay kasunod ng paglagda ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa Republic Act No. 12321 o Last Mile and GIDA Schools Act noong Hulyo 22, na nagbibigay ng mas matibay na suporta ng pamahalaan sa mga pampublikong paaralan sa mga liblib at mahihirap na lugar.
“Education should never be limited by distance or security concerns,” saad ni Nartatez.
“The PNP will continue to do its part to keep schools and communities safe so that teachers can fulfill their mission and students can focus on learning with confidence,” dagdag niya. RNT/MDS
