MANILA, Philippines – Inihayag ni Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairperson Erwin Tulfo nitong Linggo, Agosto 2, na kanyang kokonsultahin ang kasamahan sa Senado kung itutuloy ng lupon ang imbestigasyon sa flood control fund scam.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Tulfo na kailangan munang mabugo ang komite bago magdesisyon hinggil sa kapalaran ng imbestigasyon sa flood control.
“Senate President [Sherwin] Gatchalian and I also agreed that, once the committee is formed—hopefully this coming week—we will finalize the Blue Ribbon membership. We will then have a vice chairperson and members from the minority,” aniya sa panayam ng media.
Ayon kay Tulfo, magdedesishyon ng Blue Ribbon Committee kung itutuloy o hayaan na lamang ang Office of the Ombudsman na mag-imbestiga na kasalukuyang nitong ginagawa.
“I will convene the committee and ask for the consensus of both the majority and minority. Should we continue handling these flood control cases? Especially those that have already been discussed [in the committee], investigated, and are now with the Ombudsman?, aniya.
“Should we continue investigating them, or should we just leave them to the Ombudsman?” dagdag ni Tulfo.
Huling nagsagawa ng pagdinig ng Blue Ribbon noong Hunyo 8 sa gitna ng sigalot sa liderato sa pagitan nina Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian at dating Senate president, at ngayon Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano.
Binanggit ni Tulfo na masyado nang makapal ang schedule ng Senado kabilang ang impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte at ilang panukalang batas na naghihintay maaprubahan.
“I will listen to the decision of both the majority and minority members of the Blue Ribbon Committee on the direction we should take. Right now, we already have a lot on our plate,” aniya.
“The Ombudsman is already investigating. If the Blue Ribbon also investigates, that would be duplicative. What’s the point? We conduct investigations in aid of legislation, while the Ombudsman investigates for possible prosecution.” Ernie Reyes
