MANILA, Philippines – Target ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST) na magbigay ng tulong sa mahigit 10,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sa susunod na dalawang taon.
Ito ang naging pahayag ni DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. kasabay ng Sustainability Expo sa Taguig City nitong Miyerkules, Agosto 5.
“We hope to target more than 10,000 MSMEs in the next two years,” sinabi ni Solidum sa speech.
“The DOST initiatives shown here would strengthen the country’s innovation ecosystem and empower Filipino entrepreneurs to develop globally competitive products,” dagdag pa.
Kabilang sa mga programa ng DOST ang Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), na tutulong sa mga MSME sa pagbibigay ng:
Seed funding para sa technology acquisition
Equipment acquisition at upgrading
Technical training at consultancy services
Packaging at label design
Database information systems
Suporta sa pagtatatag ng product standards, kabilang ang product testing at equipment calibration
Patuloy din na magtatayo ang DOST ng innovation hubs, regional innovation centers, at technology business incubators.
Magsisilbi itong workspace na maaaring magkonekta ng mga interesadong researcher sa kanilang mentor, eksperto at kasamahan upang mas mapabuti pa ang kanilang konsepto sa workable solutions at marketable start-ups gamit ang mga available na tools at resources.
“The recent program that we are into is developing one-on-one engagements with MSME through a smart factory approach where we will look into the way they operate and how artificial intelligence, robotics, and animation can be used,” sinabi ni Solidum.
“We want to scale up productivity by 25% to 30%,” dagdag pa niya.
“Young people have very good ideas, because they are so bold to make sure that this can be implemented. And when young people talk about ideas, they talk about the pros, the positives, the possibility of being implemented.”
“If the two, the pros and the possibility to be implemented are okay, then the last thing that they will talk about would be the problems but also the solutions to go with it,” pagpapatuloy nito. RNT/JGC
