MANILA, Philippines – Inalis ni Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon sa puwesto si DPWH-Camarines Sur 1st District Engineer Ramon Anselmo Calagos matapos ang aksidente sa isang ginagawang kalsada na ikinasugat ng tatlong katao.
Sa memorandum na inilabas noong Agosto 5, binanggit ni Dizon ang iniulat na kakulangan ng sapat na warning signs at traffic safety devices sa construction site sa Andaya Highway, Barangay Magais, Del Gallego, Camarines Sur, kung saan nangyari ang aksidente noong Hulyo 29.
Inatasan si Calagos na mag-report sa Office of the DPWH-Bicol Regional Director para sa pagtatalaga ng kaniyang mga tungkulin at responsibilidad. Inutusan din siyang kumpletuhin at lagdaan ang mga nakabinbing dokumento, magsagawa ng inventory at pormal na i-turn over ang mga official record at ari-arian ng gobyerno na nasa kaniyang pangangalaga.
“I want to make two announcements. Effective yesterday, I’ve already replaced the District Engineer of the 1st District of Camarines Sur because we need to make our people accountable. We already ordered all districts and regions nationwide that we need to be very, very strict with safety standards,” ani Dizon.
Ginawa niya ang anunsyo nitong Huwebes habang iniinspeksyon ang Oplan Kontra Baha Program sa Sagop Creek, Barangay Concepcion Pequeña, Naga City, kasama si Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo.
Sinabi ni Dizon na pananagutin din ang contractor dahil sa kabiguang maglagay ng wastong safety signs sa project site.
“Second, we will hold the contractor accountable. It is the responsibility of the contractor to put up the right safety signs, and we have a strict standard. And if that is not followed, life is the price. In some cases, life is the price, and really, it’s unacceptable. So, there needs to be someone to answer for this. So, this is without prejudice on future cases that can be filed against both the contractor and the people involved,” dagdag niya.
Iniutos din ni Dizon ang imbestigasyon upang matukoy kung may iba pang dapat managot sa insidente.
Pinaalalahanan niya ang mga tauhan at contractor ng DPWH na tiyaking maayos ang pagpapatupad ng mga proyekto at mahigpit na nasusunod ang safety standards upang hindi malagay sa panganib ang mga motorista, commuter at iba pang gumagamit ng kalsada. RNT
