MANILA, Philippines – Nilinaw ni Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) spokesperson Jayrex Bustinera na ang medical check-up ni Senador Jinggoy Estrada ay awtorisado ng court order at hindi special treatment.
“The medical check-up of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada was covered by a court order,” ani Bustinera.
“BJMP was implementing a lawful court directive, not extending special treatment,” dagdag pa niya.
Ang court order ay inisyu ng Fifth Division of Sandiganbayan.
Nitong Huwebes, sinabi ni Danilo dela Fuente, vice chair para sa Samahan ng Ex-Detainees Laban sa Detensyon at Aresto na ang kondisyon ng senador ay “not generally considered an emergency.”
Ayon naman kay Amanda Echanis, spokesperson ng Laya Campaign for the Release of All Political Prisoners, “plunderers are treated with kid gloves.”
Samantala, inirekomenda ni Dr. Fernando Syquia, isang orthopedic surgeon, ang operasyon para gamutin ang meniscus tear sa kaliwang tuhod ni Estrada at sinabing “it’s pretty bad.”
Matapos makakuha ng permiso mula sa Sandiganbayan noong Lunes, sumailalim si Estrada sa knee X-ray.
Siya ay dinala sa Cardinal Santos Medical Center sa San Juan City noong Miyerkules.
Inakusahan ang senador ng pagtanggap ng hanggang P573 milyon ng kickback sa budget insertions at alokasyon para sa infrastructure projects ng pamahalaan sa ilalim ng 2025 national budget. RNT/JGC
