Manila, Philippines – Walong pelikulang Pinoy ang kabilang sa na-shortlist ng Film Academy of the Philippines para kumatawan sa Best International Feature Film category sa ika-99 Academy Awards o Oscars.
Ito’y ang Filipiniana ni Rafael Manuel, Silenced Nights ni Lawrence Fajardo, 58th ni Carl Joseph Papa, Quezon ni Jerrold Tarog, I’mPerfect ni Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo, Manila’s Finest ni Raymond Red, Sisa ni Jun Robles Lana at All the Things I Leave You (Patawid).
Ayon kay FAP Director General Paolo Villaluna sa inilabas na media release nitong August 28: “The films this year are a spectrum of views of the Filipino experience.
“They look at our history, the issues we continue to face, and the ways Filipinos deal with questions of power, identity, love, freedom and survival.
“Each one has its own voice and approach, showcasing our cinematic merit and any of them has the potential to connect with audiences beyond the Philippines.
“Whichever film we send to the Oscars will carry a Filipino story that we can be proud of.”
Mga iginagalang na Pinoy industry experts ang kabilang sa National Selection Committee.
Ang komite ay inaprubahan ng Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
It will evaluate the films based on artistic merit, cultural relevance and international campaign potential.
laanunsyo ng FAP ang napiling panlaban sa opening ceremony ng Philippine Film Industry Month sa September 4 sa Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City.
