MANILA, Philippines – Kinondena ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang ginawa ng China Coast Guard (CCG) vessel na CCG-21585 na bumangga sa BFAR vessel na BRP Datu Magat Salamat sa West Philippine Sea noong Biyernes, Setyembre 18.
Ayon sa DFA, nagdulot ang insidente ng pinsala sa barko at naglagay sa panganib sa mga sibilyang tripulante nito.
“There is no justification for the CCG vessel to undertake aggressive actions against a Philippine civilian law enforcement vessel, and cause damage to the ship and endanger the safety of the civilian crew,” pahayag ng DFA.
Iginiit ng DFA na nagsasagawa lamang ang BRP Datu Magat Salamat ng regular at legal na humanitarian activities para suportahan ang mga mangingisdang Pilipino sa West Philippine Sea.
“The Philippines emphasizes that the BFAR vessel was merely conducting routine and lawful humanitarian activities to support Filipino fisherfolk in the West Philippine Sea,” ayon sa DFA.
Tinawag ng DFA na “illegal, coercive, aggressive and dangerous” ang kilos ng CCG at sinabing hindi ito naaayon sa obligasyon ng China sa ilalim ng international law, kabilang ang UNCLOS, 2016 Arbitral Award, COLREGS at SOLAS.
“The CCG vessel’s illegal, coercive, aggressive and dangerous acts are inconsistent with China’s obligations under international law, including UNCLOS and the 2016 Arbitral Award, the 1972 International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS), and the 1974 Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS),” sabi ng DFA.
Nanawagan ang Pilipinas sa China na igalang ang sovereign rights ng bansa sa loob ng exclusive economic zone (EEZ) at umiwas sa mga kilos na maaaring magpalala ng tensyon sa rehiyon.
“The Philippines calls on China to respect Philippine sovereign rights within its exclusive economic zone in accordance with UNCLOS as affirmed by the 2016 Arbitral Award, exercise restraint and avoid actions that could further escalate tensions in the region,” pahayag ng DFA.
Nangyari ang insidente may 54 nautical miles mula sa Palawan, sa loob ng EEZ ng Pilipinas. Ang BRP Datu Magat Salamat ay siya ring barkong sumadsad sa Hasa-Hasa Shoal noong Setyembre 17 habang papalapit sa mga bangkang pangisda para mamahagi ng fuel subsidy. RNT/MDS
