MANILA, Philippines – TININTAHAN ng Department of Education (DepEd) at Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) ang isang kasunduan ukol sa first ever hospital-based learning continuity program sa bansa para sa mga bata na may long-term health conditions.
Ang memorandum, nilagdaan, araw ng Lunes, Setyembre 28, ay inaasahan na makatutulong sa eligible patients na ipagpatuloy ang kanilang eduksyon habang tumatanggap ng medical care sa pamamagitan ng Alternative Learning System (ALS).
Tinukoy ni Education Secretary Sonny Angara na ang commitment ay nagpapakita ng estratehiya ng gobyerno na gawing accessible ang edukasyon sa mga mag-aaral.
Para sa Kalihim, malaking bagay ito para sa kanila. Ang utos aniya ng Pangulo, “walang bata ang dapat na maiwan sa kabila ng lahat ng hamon at kahit pa mahirap.”
Sa ulat, Saklaw ng ALS program ng DepEd ang Basic Literacy Program and the Accreditation and Equivalency for Elementary and Junior High School, Regular Junior High School at Regular Senior High School.
Ang Learning instructions aniya ay dapat na nakabase sa health condition at treatment schedule ng mag-aaral, ang edukasyon ay direktang ihahatid sa pamamagitan ng modular learning, bedside instruction, small-group sessions at blended o online learning modalities.
“They no longer need to choose between proceeding with their education or treatment,” ang sinabi naman ni PCMC Executive Director Cecilia Gan sa panayam ng Philippine News Agency (PNA).
