MANILA, Philippines – Inihayag ni Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson na “walang probative value” ang mga inilabas na impormasyon ni dating Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV kaugnay ng impeachment case laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Nitong Biyernes, nagdaos ng press conference si Trillanes kung saan ibinunyag niya ang laman ng kanyang testimonya na dapat sana ay ihaharap sa Senate impeachment court.
Nangyari ito matapos ianunsyo ng House prosecution team na hindi na nila ihaharap si Trillanes bilang testigo sa alegasyon ng hindi maipaliwanag na yaman laban sa bise.
Sa panayam sa DWIZ 882, sinabi ni Lacson bilang senator-judge na walang bigat sa korte ang mga sinabi ni Trillanes dahil ginawa ito sa press conference.
“It has no probative value. First of all, that was a press conference. Secondly, it isn’t even part of the court record. So, how could it possibly have probative value?” paliwanag ni Lacson nang tanungin kung may timbang ang pahayag ni Trillanes.
“Now, it is up to the prosecution to present a witness who has the documents presented by Senator Trillanes,” dagdag niya.
Kabilang sa mga inilabas ni Trillanes ang alegasyon na mahigit P319 milyon ang natanggap ng CALE88 Foods Corp., kumpanyang may kaugnayan sa asawa ni Duterte na si Atty. Manases Carpio, mula sa gobyerno ng China at mga kumpanyang nakabase sa China.
Para kay Lacson, kung ihaharap ang testimonya ni Trillanes sa korte, tiyak na tututulan ito ng kampo ng depensa.
“All I can say is that whether it takes place in an impeachment court or at a trial, I expect a barrage of objections from the defense—from the respondent’s side,” sabi niya.
Sa pangkalahatan, ayon kay Lacson, kadalasan ay tinututulan ng mga abogado ang mga pahayag ng mga indibidwal na walang personal na kaalaman o kakayahan sa usapin.
“Regarding the records, the source of those official records should be the one to testify — not relying on a third party, so to speak, who lacks personal knowledge,” aniya.
“Because if there is a source, we can call upon that very source to testify—someone competent enough to attest that these records originated from us, were prepared by us, and have been in our office, and that is what I am confirming,” paliwanag pa ng senador. Ernie Reyes
