MANILA, Philippines – Itinanggi ni Vice President Sara Duterte nitong Sabado, Oktubre 17 na mayroon siyang franchise ng Jollibee.
Aniya, ang investment nito sa food company na GenCorp Industries Inc. ay hindi nangangahulugan ng ownership.
“I do not own a Jollibee franchise or any other franchise. I previously invested in a company that is part of a legitimate business organization owned and operated by individuals with an established reputation for integrity and good standing,” saad sa pahayag ni Duterte.
Ito ay kasunod ng report na may mga ilang branch ng Jollibee ang pagmamay-ari ng GenCorp.
Matatandaan na tumestigo si financial forensic analyst Atty. Alexander Cabrera na ang posibleng rason kung bakit isinama ni Duterte ang GenCorp sa kanyang statement of assets, liabilities and net worth ay dahil mayroon ito ng ilang branch ng fast food company.
Bilang tugon, ipinaliwanag ni Duterte na “investing in a company does not automatically equate to owning the company itself, much less owning, managing or operating its individual businesses or franchises.”
Inilarawan niya rin ang media report bilang
“part of a series of disinformation campaigns” at nagpapataas ng “serious concerns about its journalistic standards, accuracy, and commitment to the fundamental principles of responsible journalism.”
Ani Duterte, ang patuloy na pag-atake laban sa kanya ay “deeply troubling,” at nababahala sa “apparent targeting of legitimate businesses” that causes “unwarranted reputational and commercial damage.”
