BATANES, Philippines – Hinirang ng Batanes Provincial Government si Retired Philippine Navy Commodore Edward Ike M. De Sagon bilang nag-iisang awardee ng Gawad Mangpus for Ivatan Excellence 2026, bilang pagkilala sa kanyang military service at mga ambag sa lalawigan.
Iginawad ang parangal noong Hunyo 26, 2026, sa pagdiriwang ng ika-243 Founding Anniversary ng Batanes sa Batanes State College Amphitheatre sa Basco.
“I thank the provincial government of Batanes, the awards committee, and everyone who saw in my life and service something worthy of this recognition. I accept this award with humility, but I also accept it with pride. Not pride in myself alone, but pride in the people and the place that shaped me. Because before I became an officer, before I became a Commodore, before I served in the Philippine Navy, I was first a son of Batanes. And that will always be one of the greatest honors of my life,” pahayag ni De Sagon.
“This award is more than just a recognition. It is the province’s deepest expression of gratitude to Ivatan sons and daughters who generously give back their time, talent, and treasure for the betterment of our beloved homeland,” ayon kay Governor Ronald P. Aguto Jr.
