THE fight against illegal drugs and criminality in Metro Manila has reached new heights under the leadership of National Capital Region Police Office director PBGen. Anthony Aberin and Northern Police District chief PCol. Josefino Ligan.
Their unwavering commitment to law enforcement has led to significant breakthroughs, reaffirming the police force’s dedication to public safety.
From January to March 2025, the NPD launched 356 high-impact operations, resulting in the arrest of 455 individuals involved in drug-related activities.
The total volume of confiscated illegal substances, including 6,903.99 grams of shabu, 141,930.81 grams of marijuana and 1,078.25 grams of marijuana has an estimated street value of ₱66 million.
The breakdown of the NPD’s anti-drug operations reveals a sustained and aggressive effort:
– January: 140 operations, 178 arrested, ₱22.9M worth of drugs seized
– February: 150 operations, 192 arrested, ₱26M worth of drugs seized
– March: 66 operations, 85 arrested, ₱16.9M worth of drugs seized
This is more than just numbers. Each arrest means a community saved, a family protected and a safer future for our youth, Ligan emphasized.
Beyond its campaign against illegal drugs, the NPD has intensified its operations to capture fugitives, leading to the successful arrest of 603 wanted individuals in the first quarter of the year.
This includes 49 Top Most Wanted persons, 146 Most Wanted criminals and 408 other fugitives facing various charges.
“This is a clear message to criminals: there is no safe haven for lawbreakers in Metro Manila,” Aberin stated, reinforcing the NCRPO’s AAA Strategy—Able, Active and Allied —a dynamic approach that enhances intelligence gathering, proactive enforcement and community partnerships.
With these accomplishments, the leadership of Aberin and Ligan has not only strengthened police operations but also restored public confidence in law enforcement.
Their strategy focuses not only on punitive measures but also on sustainable community programs aimed at crime prevention and youth empowerment.
Under the guidance of these seasoned officers, the NPD and NCRPO remain steadfast in their mission to uphold justice and peace — proving that in the battle against crime, leadership dedication and action are the strongest weapons.
