MANILA, Philippines – Binatikos ni House Assistant Majority Leader at Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong si Sen. Imee Marcos dahil sa pagiging “defense counsel” ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa halip na maging isang patas na senator-judge para sa nalalapit na impeachment trial.
Ayon kay Adiong, chairman din ng House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms, nakababahala ang mga patuloy na banat ni Marcos sa Kamara at ang pagtatangka nitong lagyan ng bahid ng duda ang proseso ng impeachment.
“Instead of preparing to objectively evaluate the evidence once the impeachment trial begins, Senator Imee Marcos appears to have already taken a partisan position by constantly attacking the House, questioning motives, and advancing narratives favorable to the Vice President,” ani Adiong.
Pinabulaanan din ni Adiong ang akusasyon ng senadora na sinasadya ng Kamara na i-delay ang pagpapadala ng impeachment records sa Senado.
“The Articles of Impeachment are not a one-page resolution that can simply be stapled and handed over in an afternoon. These involve thousands of pages of annexes, transcripts, certifications, sworn statements, financial records, and documentary evidence that must be reproduced completely and accurately,” paliwanag ng mambabatas.
Tinawag din na “deeply irresponsible” ni Adiong ang mga paratang ni Marcos na nabili o nakatanggap ng pabor ang mga kongresista kapalit ng kanilang boto para i-impeach ang Bise Presidente.
“For weeks now, Senator Imee Marcos has been training her guns on the House of Representatives, casually throwing around allegations of bribery, rewards, and political maneuvering.Yet up to now, she has not presented a single affidavit, witness, document, or admissible evidence to support these accusations,” giit ni Adiong.
