MANILA, Philippines – Handang tumulong ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa imbestigasyon tungkol sa pagkuha ng buhangin at iba pang materyales mula sa mga baybayin na ginagamit para sa reclamation sa West Philippine Sea.
Ayon kay Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla, tagapagsalita ng AFP, bantay-sarado ang militar dahil maaaring makaapekto ito sa seguridad at kalikasan ng bansa.
“Should the need arise, the AFP stands ready to provide any assistance and inter-agency coordination with relevant government bodies such as the DENR, PCG, and NBI to identify individuals or groups involved in such activities,” aniya.\
“Under the whole-of-nation approach, it is within the AFP’s mandate to protect the integrity of our national territory and prevent any actions that could pose a threat to our sovereignty, environment, and security,” dagdag pa ni Padilla.
Nakikipagtulungan sila sa mga ahensya ng gobyerno tulad ng DENR, Philippine Coast Guard, at NBI para matukoy ang mga sangkot.
Inutos din ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang pagsisiyasat matapos malaman na ginagamit ang buhangin mula sa mga baybayin ng Pilipinas para sa mga reclamation project sa ibang bansa. RNT
