MANILA, Philippines – Itinanghal ang Angeles City, Pampanga bilang Asia’s Best Emerging Culinary City Destination sa World Culinary Awards Gala Ceremony 2024.
Ang award na iginawad sa seremonya sa Dubai, United Arab Emirates noong Oktubre 3 ay mas nagpatibay pa sa status ng lungsod bilang rising star sa global food tourism.
“This prestigious recognition of Angeles City as Asia’s Best Emerging Culinary City Destination underscores the exceptional talent, creativity, and dedication of its local chefs and food artisans,” pahayag ni Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco nitong Sabado, Oktubre 5.
“The city’s rich culinary heritage, led by its iconic dishes like sisig, continues to captivate food enthusiasts not only in the Philippines but across the world, showcasing the power of Filipino cuisine on the global stage.”
Tinanggap ni Department of Tourism (DOT) 3 (Central Luzon) Director Richard ang award.
“This award is a testament to the collective hard work and passion of the people of Angeles City and the province of Pampanga in safeguarding and celebrating their unique culinary heritage,” ani Frasco.
Pinuri ni Frasco ang pagsisikap ng lungsod na maprotektahan ang culinary treasures nito, kabilang ang pagpasa ng ordinansa na kumikilala sa Sisig Babi bilang isang Intangible Heritage ng Angeles.
Nakalaban ng Angeles City ang iba pang kilalang food destinations gaya ng Hanoi, Vietnam; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Taipei, Taiwan; at Kyoto, Japan. RNT/JGC
