MANILA, Philippines – Ipinatawag ang mga coach at player ng Ateneo de Manila University men’s basketball team para sa imbestigasyon sa pagkalunod ng student-athletes na sina Rene Baterbonia at Divine Adili, sinabi ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) nitong Huwebes, Hunyo 11.
“Subpoenas have been issued to the coaches and players present during the activity as part of fact-finding efforts, including the examination of possible violations of Republic Act No. 11053, or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018,” saad sa pahayag ng DILG.
“The DILG emphasizes: all concerned individuals are expected to fully cooperate with the investigating authorities. Due process will be strictly observed, and accountability will be enforced wherever the facts lead,” dagdag pa.
Naglunsad na ng masusing imbestigasyon ang Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) kaugnay sa insidente.
“We urge the public to refrain from speculation and to allow the proper authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, out of respect for the grieving families and for the truth that must be established,” ayon pa sa DILG.
Nakiramay ang ahensya sa pamilya nina Baterbonia at Adili, maging sa Ateneo de Manila University community.
“The loss of two young student-athletes is a tragedy that the nation shares.”
Ngayong araw din ay sinabi ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) na tututok ang imbestigasyon nito sa posibleng “criminal negligence” sa pagkamatay ng dalawang atleta.
Nauna nang sinabi ng Aurora Police Provincial Office, na walang indikasyon ng foul play sa insidente batay sa inisyal na imbestigasyon. RNT/JGC
