MANILA, Philippines – PINAG-AARALAN ng Philippine Navy ang posibilidad na magsagawa ng rotation and reprovision (RORE) mission sa Ayungin Shoal bilang bahagi ng Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MMCA) kasama ang mga kaalyadong bansa sa West Philippine Sea.
Kasunod ito ng agresibong pagharang ng Tsina sa nakaraang misyon.
Ang resupply mission ay maaaring maging bahagi ng multilateral exercise kasama ang ilang bansa.
Sa ganitong senaryo, sabay-sabay na naglalayag ang mga barko o nagpapatrolya ang mga eroplano ng mga kaalyadong bansa gaya ng Estados Unidos, Japan, UK and Australia kasama ang Philippine forces sa South China Sea.
“All options are being discussed on the planning table. Once finalized, this will be submitted for approval,” ayon kay Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad, Navy Spokesperson para sa West Philippine Sea.
Sinabi naman ni Defense Secretary Gibo Teodoro na magpapatuloy pa rin ang RORE missions.
“We are going to do the RORE as routinely as possible but we’ll wait for the maritime council to give us the appropriate guidance… In terms of timing and other issues, the (Department of Foreign Affairs) and the (National Maritime Council),” ayon kay Teodoro.
Kaya ang mga sundalo sa BRP Sierra Madre ay kasalukuyang nabubuhay sa huling suplay na in-airdrop noong unang bahagi pa ng Hunyo.

Samantala, pag-uusapan naman nina Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. at US Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Chairman General Charles Brown ang susunod na Balikatan Exercise at napipintong paglagda sa General Security of Military Information Agreement o GSOMIA.
“It will also involve other upcoming talks in terms of our compliance with the GSOMIA and other matters in terms of our partnership with the US,” ayon kay AFP Spokesperson Colonel Frances Margareth Padilla. Kris Jose
