MANILA, Philippines – Isinailalim sa state of calamity ang Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) dahil sa pinagsanib na epekto ng global oil crisis at matinding init dahil sa El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO).
Idineklara ni Bangsamoro Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua ang state of calamity upang matugunan ang lumalalang socioeconomic disruptions dahil sa mataas na presyo ng produktong petrolyo at mainit na panahon dahil sa El Niño.
“El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO)-neutral conditions prevailing over the Tropical Pacific have triggered an El Niño Alert since April 22, 2026, with climate models projecting the phenomenon to continue until early 2027,” saad sa proklamasyon.
Sinabi naman ng Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) na naapektuhan na ng ENSO ang nasa 800 rice at corn farmers sa Maguindanao del Sur at Maguindanao del Norte.
Batay sa datos, nasa 851 ektarya ng taniman sa 36 bayan at 167 barangay ang napinsala na hanggang noong Abril 24, 2026, kabilang ang 537 ektarya ng palayan at 314 ektarya ng taniman ng mais.
Nawala rin umano sa tagtuyot ang nasa 1,500 metriko tonelada ng bigas at mais.
Nagpapakita rin ang proklamasyon ng matinding epekto ng global oil crisis sa mga residente.
Matatandaan na noong Marso ay lumikha ng Bangsamoro Oil Crisis Impact Task Force (BOCITF) nang tumaas ang presyo ng produktong petrolyo na nakaapekto sa transportasyon, food supply chains, at essential services sa rehiyon.
Ang deklarasyon ay epektibo Mayo 14, 2026 at mananatili hanggat hindi inaalis.
Dahil dito ay nanawagan si Macacua ng agarang aksyon mula sa mga local government unit at pribadong sektor kabilang ang pagbibigay ng international humanitarian assistance,
“The Bangsamoro Government and local government units may immediately access calamity and emergency funds for rescue, relief, recovery, and rehabilitation efforts, including the delivery of essential services to affected communities,” aniya.
“All concerned ministries, offices, and agencies of the Bangsamoro Government are hereby directed to continuously undertake urgent and critical disaster response to save lives, reduce adverse impacts, ensure public safety, and meet the basic subsistence needs of the Bangsamoro people,” dagdag pa nito.
