MANILA, Philippines- Pumutok ang bulkang Kanlaon sa Negros Island nitong Martes ng umaga, ayon sa Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
“ATM: Explosive eruption at Kanlaon Volcano ongoing. Details to be released,” saad sa post ng PHIVOLCS sa Facebook.
Naganap ang explosive eruption ng alas-5:51 ng umaga, ayon kay Mariton Bornas, pinuno ng PHIVOLCS Volcano Monitoring Eruption Prediction Division, sa isang panayam.
Nobserbahan ang makapal na usok mula sa bulkan, aniya.
“The eruption is producing a voluminous bent plume approximately 4,000 meters tall that is drifting southwest,” saad sa Facebook post ng ahensya.
“Humihina na ngayon ang pagputok pero ongoing. Medyo mabagal ‘yung pag-akyat ng plume ngayon,” wika ng opisyal.
“Patuloy ang mabagal na pagbuga ng abo… Binabantayan po natin,” dagdag ni Bornas.
Pagsapit ng alas-7:02 ng umaga, sinabi ng PHIVOLCS sa X na natapos na ang pagsabog.
“This is a notice for the end of the explosive eruption that began at 5:51 AM today, 8 April 2025,” base sa post.
Batay kay PHIVOLCS chief Teresito Bacolcol, natapos ang explosive eruption ng bulkan ng alas-6:47 ng umaga.
“Natapos na siya kanina at 6:47 a.m., nag-end na po ‘yung eruption so it lasted for almost one hour from 5:51 a.m. to 6:47 a.m.,” ani Bacolcol.
Sinuspinde ang klase sa ilang lugar dahil sa pagputok ng Kanlaon.
Kasalukuyang nasa ilalim ng Alert Level 3 ang bulkang Kanlaon.
Kinumpirma ni Bornas na nasa ilalim pa rin ng Alert Level 3 ang bulkan sa kasalukuyan.
Samantala, sinabi ni Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian na handa ang ahensya na magpadala ng family food packs at iba pang kailangang tulong sa mga pamilyang apektado ng panibagong pagputok ng Kanlaon Volcano.
“As I speak, our Field Offices in Western and Central Visayas are closely coordinating with affected local government units so we can get real-time updates on the status of affected families, and their need for more provisions of family food packs and non-food items,” wika ni Gatchalian.
“We expect the numbers of evacuees may spike again, but we are ready. Our nearby warehouses are capacitated. In fact, apart from the more than 100,000 FFPs in Negros Island, we have over 2.5 million boxes of FFPs prepositioned in other warehouses across the country which we can tap anytime for our relief response,” patuloy niya.
Bukod sa FFPs, ang ahensya at mayroon ding P865,447,008 halaga ng non-food items tulad ng kitchen kit, family kit, sleeping kit, hygiene kit, at laminated sacks, at iba pang relief items. RNT/SA
