CALOOCAN City Mayor Along Malapitan has announced that the local government has started providing free chemotherapy sessions as well as diabetes maintenance medicines for its constituents.
“In our continued effort to prioritize quality and accessible healthcare for all residents, the city government is making available for free the chemotherapy sessions to cancer patients.”
Also, free maintenance medicines would also be given monthly to diabetes patients. The medicine given to each patient is good for 30 days and can be provided monthly, according to the City Health Department.
Acting CHD chief Fernando Santos said the local government has sealed a partnership with the Prime Treatment Group (PTG) which allows residents of all ages who are diagnosed with cancer to undergo free chemotherapy sessions (infusion treatment).
He said the PTG Caloocan Chemotherapy Center is located at 2nd Floor, Ziti Center Caloocan and would be open from Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, those who take medication for diabetes may avail of free maintenance medicine at any health center across the city.
Aside from this, free insulin may also be given to patients on an as needed basis, it added.
Free consultations have also been offered on all its health centers in partnership with PhilHealth.
Recognizing national heroes
With Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian as guest speaker during the commemoration of 128th Independence Day at historic Bonifacio Monument, the mayor and ex-mayor and now District 1 Rep. Oca Malapitan were one in recognizing the key role played by the national heroes in nation-building.
The younger Malapitan has encouraged the youth to not just follow their footsteps but exceed every expectation to create the country envisioned by our national heroes.
“Sa lahat ng kabataang Pilipino, lalo na ang mga Batang Kankaloo, magsumikap tayong lahat na dalhin ang Pilipinas sa isang kinabukasan na pinapangarap lang noon ng mga bayaning nauna sa atin.”
The father-and-son tandem likewise called on their fellow public servants to become the leading examples of love for the country by embodying true service and concern for the people.
