THE Caloocan City government has strengthened its inter-city partnership with its top officials’ latest visit to Mandaue City in Cebu province where it shared its best practices in local governance.
Mayor Along Malapitan told Good Riddance that he led the city delegation when they visited the place recently where they met its key officials led by Mayor Jonke Ouano and mingled with its employees at the same time.
“Reinforcing Caloocan’s commitment to public service, our visit to the City of Mandaue marked another step in expanding the partnerships with progressive local government units across the country.”
“The exchange of ideas among local governments allows us to continuously improve the programs and services we deliver to our constituents,” the Caloocan chief executive added.
The son of former long-time mayor and now District 1 Rep. Oscar Malapitan emphasized that the visit went beyond knowledge-sharing as it would serve as the beginning of a stronger partnership between the two progressive cities that promotes collaboration for their mutual benefits.
“Daghang salamat, Mandaue City! Nawa’y magsilbi ang pagbisita na ito na simula ng mas matibay na ugnayan at pagtutulungan ng ating mga lungsod para sa kapakanan ng ating mga mamamayan,” he remarked.
Employment for PWDs
The city government continues to strengthen its commitment to inclusivity through the signing of a memorandum of agreement with various commercial companies for the implementation of ‘Project Ability and Mobility, an initiative that expands employment opportunities for Persons with Disability.
The partnership is part of the city’s continuing efforts to ensure that every citizen has access to opportunities for meaningful employment, the youthful mayor said.
He emphasized that the city government is focused on creating equal opportunities for all residents and that every individual deserves the chance to contribute to the community.
Through the program, qualified PWDs would be connected with employers and would be provided greater access to jobs that recognize their skills.
“Tiwala tayo sa kakayahan ng ating mga kababayan at titiyakin natin na sa ating liderato ay nabibigyan sila ng pantay na karapatan, oportunidad, at pagpapahalaga,” the local chief executive said.
