MANILA, Philippines – PLANO ng Canadian mining company B2Gold Corp. na mamuhunan ng USD14 million para palawakin ang Masbate Gold Project nito at bagong mga hakbangin sa paggalugad.
Ang planong investment ay tinalakay sa pakikipagpulong ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa mga executives ng B2Gold and Filminera Resource Corp. sa Fairmont Pacific Rim, araw ng Biyernes (oras sa Canada).
“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with executives of B2Gold Corp. and Filminera Resources Corp. in Vancouver on the sidelines of his Official Visit to Canada to discuss the companies’ planned investments of approximately USD14 million for the solar plant expansion at the Masbate Gold Project and ongoing exploration programs,” ayon sa Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
Sa nasabing miting, inilatag ng B2Gold kay Pangulong Marcos ang tungkol sa plano nito, na subject para sa karagdagang kasunduan sa pagitan ng magkabilang partido, para makapagbigay ng ‘technical at exploration expertise’ para i-assess ang mga oportunidad para sa pagapalawak ng operational life ng Masbate Gold Project.
Sinabi pa ng PCO na pinresenta rin ng Canadian gold producer ang bago nitong exploration initiatives sa pamamagitan ng B2Gold Philippines Exploration Office, itinatag kasunod ng positibong karanasan ng kompanya sa pag-operate sa Pilipinas.
“The investment pledge reflects B2Gold’s continued confidence in the Philippine mining industry,” ayon sa PCO.
Ang Masbate Gold Project ay ang pangunahing open-pit gold mining operation sa Pilipinas na kasamang pinamamahalaanan ng B2Gold subsidiary Philippine Gold Processing and Refining Corp. at Philippine firm Filminera.
Taong 2025, nakapagbigay ang Masbate Gold Project ng mahgit sa P10 billion na buwis sa local at national governments.
Sinabi ng PCO na ang “project’s extensive tax contributions helped elevate its host town, Aroroy, from a lower-income fourth-class municipality to a thriving first-class municipality, resulting in improved public infrastructure, educational assistance, and training programs for local scholars.” KRIS JOSE
