MANILA, Philippines – Naghain si ML Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima ng dalawang House resolutions para magsagawa ng congressional inquiry sa implementasyon ng RA 11479 (Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020) at RA 10168 (Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012).
Layunin ng House Resolution 786 na suriin kung sumusunod ang Anti-Terrorism Act sa due process, freedom of speech, at iba pang constitutional guarantees, pati na rin ang sapat na safeguards laban sa pang-aabuso.
Ang House Resolution 787 naman ay tumutok sa proteksyon sa due process, judicial oversight, evidentiary standards, transparency, at anti-de-risking guidance para sa terror financing cases.
Tinawag ni De Lima bilang “serious setback sa press freedom” at “major blow sa civil liberties” ang denial of bail kay journalist Frenchie Mae Cumpio at lay worker Marielle Domequil, na nahatulan ng terror financing noong Enero at nakatakdang makulong ng 12–18 taon. RNT/MND
